Question : EWS Houses in Bihar

(a) the number of urban homeless people who have been allotted EWS houses in Bihar during the last three years;

(b) whether there is any proposal to allot EWS houses in Bihar during the next three years;

(c) the status of the construction of houses in Bihar to provide shelter to urban poor people till 2024 and the reaction of the Government in this regard; and

(d) the details of the remedial steps taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) 2,15,821 Economically Weaker Section (EWS) houses have been sanctioned to the State of Bihar for urban homeless people during the last three years under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) Mission.


(b) to(d): The State Government of Bihar has undertaken demand survey for assessing actual demand of housing under PMAY-U Mission. The validated demand for the State of Bihar for the entire PMAY-U Mission period which is by the year 2022, is around 5.7 lakh and so far, 3,10,849 houses have been sanctioned against the validated demand. Further, the State Government of Bihar has reported that the proposals of eligible EWS beneficiaries will be submitted under different verticals of PMAY-U Mission as per demand survey.
