Question : MAULANA AZAD EDUCATION FOUNDATION

:

(a) the details of financial assistance allocated / sanctioned by the Maulana Azad Education Foundation Non-Government Organizations/ Local Bodies in different State / Union Territories, under the various schemes during 2006-07, scheme-wise, NGO / Local body-wise and State/ UTs-wise;

(b) the financial assistance actually utilized by these NGOs under the said scheme during the said period, scheme-wise NGO/ Local body-wise and State/UTs-wise;

(c) whether there are number of cases for release of Grants-in-Aid pending with Maulana Azad Educational Foundation for the last three years;

(d) if so, the reasons therefore;

(e) the time by which these cases are likely to be cleared and founds to be released;

(f) whether the Government is planning to introduce National Overseas Scholarship and passage grants for Higher Studies Abroad for Minorities students; and

(g) if yes, the details thereof?

(a) During 2006-2007, the Maulana Azad Education Foundation has sanctioned grants-in-aid amounting to Rs. 6.07 crore to 38 NGOs. The details are at Annexure.

(b) Grants-in-Aid sanctioned by the Foundation are released in two installments. A period of 18 months is given for completing projects. The second installment is released only after utilization certificate for the first is received.

(c) to (e) Yes, Sir. On account of limitation of resources, both financial and administrative.

(f) No, Sir.

(g) Question does not arise.
