Question : KHADI GRAMODYOG



(a) whether the Khadi Gramodyog was set up to provide proper market and prices for products being produced by the Micro,Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and groups particularly in rural areas;

(b) if so, the details of suppliers thereof, State-wise;

(c) whether products of big entrepreneurs are being procured by Khadi Gramodyog in place of MSME sector; and

(d) if so, the details thereof along with the reaction of the Government thereto?

(a)&(b): Marketing of khadi and village industries (KVI) products is primarily undertaken through KVI sales outlets of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), State Khadi and Village Industries Boards (KVIBs) and Khadi Institutions (KIs). KVIC has a network of 7050 such KVI outlets including 08 outlets run by it. Besides this products from units established under Rural Employment Generation Programme (REGP) and Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) are also marketed through these sales outlets of KVIC.

The KVI outlets are procuring khadi and village industries products only from Khadi and Village Industries Institutions and from the units established under REGP/ PMEGP. State-wise number of khadi institutions, number of units setup under REGP and PMEGP is given at Annex.
