Question : PRODUCTION OF RENEWABLE ENERGY

(a) whether the Government of Tamil Nadu has been awarded the best State for production and use of new and renewable energy in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Union Government is providing financial and technical assistance to all States to produce solar energy, if so, the details thereof;

(d) whether the Union Government would extend financial and technical support to increase the use of new and renewable energy in Tamil Nadu State; and

(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a)&(b): 12 States including the State of Tamil Nadu were awarded the Certificates of Commendation on the occasion of first Renewable Energy Global Investors Meet and Expo (RE-INVEST) held during 15-17 February, 2015. The certificates were awarded in view of the followings during the period of 1st April, 2010 to 31st March 2014:-

(i) More than 100 MW power capacity addition, and

(ii) In terms of incentives grant from 13th Finance Commission

(c): Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is providing 30% capital subsidy on promotion of solar lighting systems, small solar power plants/packs, solar pumps, solar rooftops and establishment of micro-grids. MNRE is also supporting training prog- rammes for upgradation of technical skills by provi- ding training programmes on renewable energy in par- ticular solar energy through specialized institutes.

(d)&(e): MNRE is extending financial and technical support to all the states including the State of Tamil Nadu. The details of Central Financial Assi- stance (CFA) being provided under various programmes is given in Annexure.
