Four laning of Mahulia-Baharagora-Kharagpur section on NH-33 and NH-6 in Jharkhand and West Bengal

The Cabinet Committee of Infrastructure today approved the development of four laning of 127.13 km long Mahulia-Baharagora-Kharagpur section of NH-33 and of NH-6 in Jharkhand and West Bengal under National Highways Development Project (NHDP) Phase III under BOT mode on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) basis.

The total cost of the project including land acquisition, rehabilitation and pre-construction activities will be Rs.1083.28 crore. The concession period including construction period of this project will be 30 years.

The project is covered in the East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand and West Midnapur district of West Bengal.

The main object of the project is to expedite the improvement of infrastructure in the States of Jharkhand and West Bengal and also in reducing the time and cost of travel for traffic, particularly heavy traffic, plying between Mahulia-Baharagora-Kharagpur. This project will link the two arms of Golden Quadrelateral traversing through Ranchi, Jamshedpur (Mahulia), Baharagora and Kharagpur. It will also increase the employment potential for the local labourers for the project activities.
