Question : COMPUTER CENTRES IN MUSLIM DOMINATED STATES



(a) whether keeping in view the social, educational and economical backwardness of minority communities particularly of Muslims in the country,the Government has set up computer centres, particularly in the Muslims dominated States;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government has chalked out any plan to educate the Muslim community of the latest developments in the world;

(d) if so, the details thereof, and

(e) the steps taken or being taken by the Government to keep knowledge level of minority community in the country up to date?

MINISTER OF MINORITY AFFAIRS (A.R. ANTULAY)

(a) to (e): The National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Human Resource Development has established 228 centres through non- governmental organisations particularly in states with a large Muslim population. The aim is to make available in the Urdu language the knowledge of scientific and technological developments as well as the knowledge of ideas evolved in the modern context.
