Question : Pisciculture in Fatehpur Sikri

(a) whether the Government is aware that Fatehpur Sikri has acute shortage of fresh water and the water available there is saline and also the groundwater has high content of fluoride;
(b) if so, whether the Ministry has planned any special type of pisciculture for this special need area and specifically earmarked the types of fish which can be raised in ponds in such water;
(c) if so, the details thereof;
(d) whether any survey has been done in the past in this regard; and
(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (e): The Government of Uttar Pradesh, Department of Fisheries has reported that no survey has been carried out to assess the acute shortage of fresh water, salinity and fluoride contamination of ground water in Fatehpur Sikri. The Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) on Blue Revolution: Integrated Development and Management of Fisheries provides financial assistance to the State Governments/Union Territories (UTs) for development of fisheries and aquaculture including productive utilization of inland saline/alkaline waters for pisciculture in the country. The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, under the CSS has provided a sum of Rs. 61.915 crore to the Government of Uttar Pradesh during the past four years (2015-16 to 2018-19) for development of fisheries in the State as per projects submitted by the State Government.
