(a) the names of the programmes being run by the Government for the upliftment of minorities;

(b) the amount released during the current financial year, scheme-wise

(c) whether adequate publicity and awareness campaign is not being initiated for proper utilization of these schemes; and

(d) if so, the action being taken by the Government to create awareness among people about these scheme?

(a) to (d): A statement is laid on the table of the House.

(a) The Ministry of Minority Affairs runs the following schemes for the upliftment of minorities:

Pre-matric scholarship scheme,

Post-matric scholarship scheme,

Free Coaching & Allied Scheme,

Merit-cum-means scholarship scheme,

Multi-sectoral Development Programme.

(b) The amount released during the current financial year scheme-wise up to 31.12.2009 is as follows:-

Pre-matric scholarship scheme- Rs. 128.96 crore

Post-matric scholarship scheme – Rs. 99.44 crore

Free Coaching & Allied Scheme – Rs. 7.30 crore

Merit-cum-means scholarship scheme-Rs.84.65 crore

Multi-sectoral Development Programme- Rs. 513.00 crore

(c)& (d) The Government has placed the details of the schemes on the web-site of the Ministry for public information. Moreover, schemes are advertised through advertisements in Newspapers, Television and Radio jingles from time to time. Upto 31.12.2009, print advertisements were published all over the country through DAVP in 147 English, 447 Hindi, 261 Urdu and 303 vernacular languages newspapers. An audio-visual campaign was also carried out through All India Radio and Doordarshan (Prasar Bharti).
