Question : Employment to OBCs

(a) the total population of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) as per the Socio-Economic and Caste Census, 2011 in the country, State-wise and percentage-wise; and

(b) the details of the measures taken by the Government to provide employment and reservation to OBCs in political, economic and educational fields as per the provisions of the Constitution?

(a) The Socio-Economic Caste Census, 2011 data relating to the caste-wise population is not available.

(b) The Central Government provides 27% reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) included in the Central List of OBCs in direct recruitment of Central Government Services and Central Educational Institutions. The candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes (Non-creamy layer) get 3 years relaxation in upper age limit. In respect of written examinations and interviews, in order to fulfil the quota earmarked to OBCs relaxation of standards is provided to OBC candidates.
