Question : SOFTWARE TECHNOLOGY PARKS



(a) the number of Software Technology Parks functioning in the country at present, State-wise;

(b) the number of Technology Parks proposed to be set up by the Government during 2001-2002; and

(c) the details of financial assistance sanctioned for setting up the Technology Parks during the said period alongwith the financial or technical assistance taken/being taken from the foreign countries for the purpose?

(a),(b) and (c): A Statement is laid on the Table of the Lok Sabha.


(a): At present 23 Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) centres are functioning in the country. The state-wise list of STPI centres is at Annexure.

(b): Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), an autonomous society under the Ministry of Information Technology (MIT) is planning to set up 21 more STPI centres during 2001-2002.

(c): A provision of Rs.8 crores has been made in the Plan Budget of MIT for the year 2001-2002, for setting up new STPI centres. No financial or technical assistance has been taken from the foreign countries for the purpose.
