Question : Implementation of Solar Energy Scheme

(a) whether the Union Government has launched solar energy scheme and if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether the said scheme is being implemented in West Bengal and if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the Union Government has received any proposal from the State Government and if so, the details thereof; and
(d) the quantum of solar power being received by the State of West Bengal?

(a) to (c) Details of the schemes presently being implemented by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy for promotion of solar energy and implementation status of these schemes in the State of West Bengal are placed at Annexure.

Based on the proposals received from the State of West Bengal following projects have been approved by the Ministry and are under implementation by the State implementing agency:

i. 50 MW capacity allocated under Grid-Connected Rooftop Solar Programme Ph-II.
ii. Solarization of 700 nos. of individual grid-connected agriculture pumps sanctioned under Component-C of PM-KUSUM Scheme in January, 2021.

(d) Till 28.2.2021, following solar energy capacities have been installed in the State of West Bengal:

(i) Grid-Connected Solar Power: 149.84 MW
(ii) Off-grid Solar Power:
• Solar Study Lamps: 17,662 nos.
• Solar Home Lights: 1,45,332 nos.
• Solar Street Lights: 11,813 nos.
• Solar Pumps: 653 nos.
• Solar Power Packs: 1.73 MWp
