Question : Programme for Skill Development Training of Beedi Rollers

(a) whether the Government has launched/proposes to launch a programme for skill development training of Beedi rollers to engage them in alternative jobs for their livelihood across all Beedi rolling States and districts in the country and if so, the details thereof;
(b) the estimated number of Beedi workers engaged in Beedi rolling industry in the country, State/UT-wise; and
(c) the number of workers given such training and provided with alternative jobs under this scheme so far, State/ UT-wise?

(a): This Ministry has initiated a Skill Development Programme in collaboration with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and National Skill Development Corporation to provide alternative livelihood to beedi workers and their dependents. The details of the courses in which the training is being imparted is at Annexure-A.
