Question : PMKVY

(a) whether the Government has set a target of imparting skill training to around one crore youths by 2020 under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY);

(b) if so, the number of youth provided skill training under this scheme till date;

(c) the number of youth provided with employment after getting trained under the said scheme; and

(d) the amount spent on publicity and implementation of the said scheme so far?

Answer given by the minister

(a) to (c) Under Skill India Mission, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is implementing a flagship scheme called PMKVY with an objective to provide skilling to one crore people across the country in four years i.e. 2016-2020. As on 17.01.2020, 73.47 lakh (appx.) (40.27 lakh STT + 33.20 lakh RPL) candidates have been trained/oriented throughout the country.

Under the scheme, placement opportunities are being provided to the certified candidates of short term training courses and placement performance is being calculated on the certified candidates. RPL does not mandate placement as it orients and certifies candidate with prior learning. Under STT component of PMKVY (2016-20), as per SDMS on 17.01.2020, 32.34 lakh candidates have been certified; out of which, 16.61 lakh candidates have been provided with the placements.

(d) As on 17.01.2020, funds amounting to Rs. 5,900 Cr. have been disbursed to implementing agencies for implementation of the PMKVY (2016-20) across the country. Further, publicity of the scheme is a part of overall “Awareness and Mobilization” component under the PMKVY (2016-20) for which 5% of scheme fund has been earmarked
