Question : Pending Government Assurances

(a) whether a number of Government Assurances given on the floor of the House has not been fulfilled within the prescribed time-limit by various Ministries;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the details of pendency during the last three years, Ministry-wise; and

(d) the follow up action taken by the Government with respective Ministries for fulfilment of these pending Assurances?

(a) Yes Sir.

(b) & (c) The details of Assurances made/fulfilled/dropped/pending, year-wise, including the last three years and Ministry-wise is available on the website of the Ministry www.mpa.gov.in . The website is updated from time to time. It is a continuous process.

(d) Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs monitors the state of fulfilment of the Assurances by holding periodical meetings with Ministries/Departments. The Ministry also ascertains the status of the pendency of the Assurances through issue of letters/reminders to the concerned Ministries/Deptts. at regular intervals. Monitoring of Assurances is a continuous process. However it is the Committee on Government Assurances of Lok Sabha that scrutinises the Assurances given by Ministers and reports on the extent to which such Assurances have been implemented, and also whether implemented within the time frame.
