Question : EXPORT OF WHEAT TO BANGLADESH



(a) whether the Union Government have exported wheat to Bangladesh during the last one year;

(b) if so, the quantity sold and the price charged;

(c) whether the Government have exported wheat to other countries also; and

(d) if so, the names of the countries alongwith the quantum and foreign exchange earned?

(a): Yes, sir.

(b): So far, 13.46 lakh MTs of wheat have been actually shipped to Bangladesh. The prices at which wheat has been offered for export from the Central Pool from time to time are as under:-

(c): Yes, Sir.

(d): Wheat has been exported to Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iraq, Kuwait, Malaysia, Myanmar, Oman/Dubai, Phillipines, Qatar, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Srilanka, Sudan, Taiwan, Thailand, UAE/Sharjah, Vietnam and Yemen. Upto 57.28 lakh MTs of wheat have been lifted for export as on 12.4.2002. Foreign exchange of Rs. 2427.14 crore approximately has been earned upto 12.04.2002.
