Question : Industrial Training Institutions

(a) whether the Government is considering to improve the Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) located in rural areas with the help of public private partnership and set up new ITIs in remote areas to address the problem of unemployment in rural areas of the country including Rajasthan and Maharashtra;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the location in remote areas where new ITIs are proposed to be set up during the last three years along with the details thereof, State-wise?

Answer given by the minister

(a) to(c) ITI’s are funded by State Governments except in North East and States (districts) affected by LWE. The list of ITI’s State wise including Rajasthan and Maharashtra is attached at Annexure-I. However, there are still un-served blocks for which the matter regarding relaxation of norms is under active consideration of the government.
Directorate General of Training, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has formulated two schemes titled “Skill Development in 47 Districts Affected by LWE” and “Enhancing Skill Development Infrastructure in NE States”, which inter-alia supports establishment of new ITIs in 18 States of the country including Maharashtra. Detailed Scheme wise and State wise breakup of coverage is attached at Annexure-II.
