Question : Funds from World Bank under PMGSY

(a) whether the Government received any funds from the World Bank for construction of roads under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY);

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the details of the funds allocated to the States during the last three years and the current year along with the progress achieved during the said period, year-wise and State/UT- wise including Tamil Nadu;

(d) whether any targets have been set for this purpose and if so, the details thereof; and

(e) the steps taken/being taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) & (b): The World Bank has sanctioned a loan of US Dollar 1400 million for eight participating World Bank States under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Rural Roads Project-II (RRP-II). The eight participating States are Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Bihar. The project is effective from February, 2011 and is scheduled for closure in October, 2017. Component-wise details of the loan are as under:

Component A- Civil works amounting to US Dollar 1375 million.

Component B – Technical Assistance amounting to US Dollar 25 million.

(c): Year-wise and State-wise details of funds released and expenditure under PMGSY are at Annexure-I.

(d): Year-wise and State-wise details of physical targets and achievement under PMGSY are at Annexure-II.

(e): The achievement with respect to the targets under PMGSY are regularly monitored online through programme’s Management Information System (MIS) i.e. OMMAS as well as physically through Regional Review Meetings, Pre-Empowered & Empowered Committee Meetings and video-conferences.
