Question : WORLD BANK AIDED PROJECTS IN WEST BENGAL



(a) the financial assistance received by the State Government of West Bengal from the World Bank for literacy, welfare of Anganwadis and development work during the last three years;

(b) the conditions on which the assistance has been received;

(c) the details of the works commenced with the amount received so far by the West Bengal Government; and

(d) the time by which the works commenced are likely to be completed?

(a) There is no World Bank funded literacy programme in West Bengal. Under World Bank (IDA) funded Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), Rs. 4.75 crores. was released to West Bengal Government for welfare of Anganwadis and development works during last three years.
(b) Assistance has been received in accordance with the standard terms and conditions as applicable to IDA credit.
(c) 10161 ICDS functionaries have been trained under ICDS Training Programme project `Udisha` during last 3 years.
(d) The project is scheduled to close on 30.9.2004.
